Celebrate National Tequila Day at these Houston restaurants – Houston Public Media

There are many occasions when it is appropriate to enjoy tequila, but perhaps none is more appropriate than National Tequila Day, which is Sunday.

Several restaurants and bars around Houston are offering drink specials, food items and events to commemorate the day, with some offering deals throughout the weekend. And it’s not just the places that typically specialize in Mexican or Tex-Mex cuisine. Some American, Asian and Italian restaurants are also joining in the fun.

Here’s a look at several places you can celebrate National Tequila Day:

Armandos | Tequila galore

2630 Westheimer Road.

Westheimer’s longtime Mexican restaurant offers a wide variety of tequila and mezcal drinks to enjoy on National Margarita Day. Armandos’ menu includes 10 different margaritas as well as several varieties of mezcal and anejo, blanco and reposado tequilas.

National Tequila Day is the National Tequila Weekend in Picos, which features five tequila dishes and six tequila flights held Friday through Sunday. There will also be a tequila tasting on Saturday with Cuervo and Sauza Hornitos.

The Tex-Mex spot on Richmond Avenue hosts an all-day happy hour with homemade $6 margaritas and paloma cocktails.

Como Social Club | Special drink

2 Waterway Square, The Woodlands

National Tequila Day marks the start of Como’s new Sunday hours. To commemorate the occasion, The Woodlands social club is offering “The Old Cadillac” cocktail for $16.

Anaya’s Cyclone | Beverage promotions

Multiple locations

Cyclone Anaya’s celebrates National Tequila Day throughout August with tequila promotions at its six locations. The Avion Mexican Martini, consisting of Avion Silver, Cointreau, lime juice and olive juice, will be served at the table for $15. Avion Tequila flights will also be offered for $26.

800 Sorella Ct., Suite 940

The Greenie, Spicy Margarita and El Gran Diablo are among the tequila-based cocktails offered at the Daily Gather, located in downtown’s Main Green, behind the Moran Hotel. Anthony Rogers will play live music in the square from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

El Big Bad Margarita Bar & Kitchen | Tequila Seminar

419 Travis Street

A tequila seminar is offered which will include welcome cocktails, three flights of tequila, a taco bar and a seminar led by a brand ambassador. In addition, more than 30 homemade tequila infusions will be on sale. Around 8 p.m., the Grupo de Teatro Indigo will be on hand to promote its October 29 theatrical production of Dia de los Muertos. Proceeds from the sale of bottles of marigold-flavored tequila will benefit the group.

Tequila Seminar tickets are $30 when purchased early.

Heights & Co. | happy hour

1343 Yale St.

Heights & Co. is offering four refreshing cocktails for National Tequila Day.

Sunday hours from noon to midnight.

H-Town Restaurant Group | Beverage promotions

Multiple locations

Four of the company’s restaurants – Caracol (2200 Post Oak Blvd.), Hugo’s (1600 Westheimer Rd.), Urbe (1101 Uptown Park Blvd. Suite 12) and Xochi (1777 Walker St.) – will offer a reduced price on ” The Largest Margarita Ever Sold”, which is usually $29. In addition, on Saturday and Sunday, a tequila in each restaurant will be sold at half price.

Kin Dee | Special drink

1533 N. Shepherd Drive

The Butterfly Thai Margarita, usually $16, will be sold for $14 all day for National Tequila Day. The cocktail is made with Don Julio Silver, Cointreau, lime and butterfly tea infused with lemongrass syrup.

Montrose’s new Italian steakhouse is offering a special-priced Margherite cocktail for National Tequila Day. It is made with tequila, honey, cantaloupe and smoked salt.

Specialty cocktail available for $8 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The kitchen closes at 10 p.m.

Memorial tacos | tequila tasting

7951 Katy Fwy., Suite T

A Casamigos tasting event will include a four-course meal and cocktails. There will also be music and a local designer and painter.

Event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $65.

Patterson Park | Tequila samples

2205 Patterson Street

There will be a Patron “takeover” with samples of Patron and paloma cocktails as well as replica Patron mini bottles on a first-come, first-served basis. Photo opportunities with client branding will also be available.

Pier 6 Seafood and Oyster House | happy hour

113 6e San Leon Street

Homemade margaritas will be available all day at happy hour prices. Reposado margaritas will be sold for $6.

Rosalie italian soul | Beverage promotions

C. Baldwin Hotel, 400 Dallas St.

Celebrate with two specialty cocktails at the hotel restaurant: The Jessica Rabbit, with Cuervo Traditional Blanco tequila, ginger, lime juice and sour cherry molasses; and the Italian Margarita, made with Milagro Tequila, Montenegro and Lime.

Restaurant open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Jessica Rabbit cocktails are $7. Italian margaritas are $10.

Take-out tacos | Margarita Specialties

Multiple locations

All five locations celebrate National Tequila Day all week. Tacos A Go Go will have a different special margarita every day.

Greenway, Heights, Midtown and Oak Forest sites open on Sundays.

Tobiuo Sushi & Bar | Tequila cocktails

23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. to Katy

If you don’t think tequila goes well with sushi, you might want to think again and head over to Tobiuo. Among the tequila-based cocktails on offer are the Prickly Pear Margarita, Torched Paloma, and Watermelon Mint.
